Currently, to carry out the development of a project, the intervention of a specific working group is required, where each task is perfectly assigned depending on the scope of knowledge of each user.

This way of working is difficult to implant in current BIM tools, since all the project information is centralised and managed by one application in a single file, with its own format. It also obliges all the members of the team to work with the same tool and with all the volume of the project.

In the Open BIM workflow, the information that makes up the project is distributed in accordance with the intervening disciplines. This way, each user generates and manages only the information belonging to the part of the project which s/he is responsible for.

The Open BIM flow, when the project is developed progressively, allows users to provide, value and establish, on the BIM model, the solutions that can be considered as being convenient in the project phase.

Additionally, since it is possible to update the BIM model at any time, each of the areas making up the project can be defined with more or less detail, depending on the development phase in which it is. In other words, each discipline can be defined depending on the moment, but also depending on the other intervening fields, and being able to check if there are any inconsistencies between them and rectify what is required.
